We're looking forward to starting our FA Cup journey, says Margate assistant Mike Sandmann
MARGATE assistant manager Mike Sandmann says his side are prepared to face East Grinstead Town in The FA Cup First Qualifying Round tomorrow.
Steven Watt’s men go into the game sitting in ninth-place in the Bostik Premier table with eight points from five games – four points adrift of big-spending leaders Billericay Town.
Matt Longhurst brings his Wasps to Hartsdown Park sitting in the bottom four in the Bostik South with one point from their opening four league games.
“Everyone at Margate Football Club is looking forward to the weekend and starting our FA Cup journey,” said Sandmann.
“Over recent years more and more non-league club’s are making history in this competition and we would be focusing on starting our own come Saturday.
“We know East Grinstead are going to come here with a nothing to lose mentality and we have to make sure that we are focused on the job ahead.
“We played them in pre-season so we know we have some good information about the way they play.
“We prepare against them as we do any other team we play but as always it’s about us and how we perform.”
Margate go into the game on the back of a 1-0 home win over newly-promoted side Dorking Wanderers on Monday afternoon.
Sandmann said: “We believe that if we can get our performances right this season then we will cause a lot of team’s problems.
“As a new group of players it always takes time and results so far haven’t always matched performances but after Monday’s win we are hoping to turn performances into results which starts again tomorrow.”
