Corinthian-Casuals have had a great season last year gaining promotion so we know it’s going to be a tough game and we will need to be at our best, says Margate joint-manager Mike Sandmann
MARGATE joint-manager Mike Sandmann says he is targeting the play-offs this season ahead of their season opener against Corinthian-Casuals tomorrow.
The Blues completed their Bostik Premier Division campaign in seventh-place last season, while Corinthian-Casuals finished in fifth-place in the South Division.
“All of us at Margate are looking forward to the start of the season,” said Sandmann, who runs the team alongside Steve Brown.
“Pre-season has been productive and we have had the opportunity to look at lots of players and recruit for the new season.
“Steve Brown and I are pleased to have retained a number of experience players from last season whilst adding key signings. We are also pleased with the number of promising younger players who will be given plenty of opportunities this season.
“We have nine players aged 24 and under which is fantastic and mixed in with the experience we know they will only improve as the season goes on.
“Browny and I really want to create an environment at Margate FC that all players and supporters want to apart of. It’s really important to us and we are certainly heading in the right direction with that.
“Corinthian-Casuals have had a great season last year gaining promotion so we know it’s going to be a tough game and we will need to be at our best to start the season in the way we would want to, gaining three points.
“We will be looking to go one better this season and make the play-offs but we must ensure we keep the small and young squad fit and focused in order to achieve this.”
