Margate begin search for Yorath's replacement
Tuesday 29th September 2009
MARGATE director Keith Piper says the club will look at external candidates for the vacant manager’s job after Terry Yorath quit last week.
Yorath resigned after 15 months in charge and assistant manager Neville Southall is in temporary charge.
Mr Piper told BBC Radio Kent: "It's quite likely we will be looking to see if there are other candidates.
"I expect Neville will be keen and he will be considered alongside any others who apply."
He added: "It's quite likely we will be looking outside as well as inside. I asked Neville to pick the team (against Hornchurch). We will meet and talk about where we go from there.
"Terry Yorath left because he felt he wasn't able to get the best out of the players he had. He was disappointed with the lack of consistency.
"He didn't want to leave the club in the position where come Christmas we were still struggling and it was too late.
"He offered his resignation on Thursday and it was accepted. It was entirely his decision."
Margate are now one place outside the Ryman Premier League drop zone following Saturday’s goal-less draw with AFC Hornchurch at Hartsdown Park.
