Margate issue rallying cry to stayaway fans

Wednesday 14th November 2007

New Margate director Mr Terry Painter has issued a rallying cry for all Margate fans to turn out in force for Saturday’s Kent derby against Maidstone United.

He has called upon all Margate's stayaway fans to watch their next match, after a crowd of just 369 watched their 2-1 home win over Harrow Borough last weekend.

“Our match against Maidstone this Saturday is another important one, as was last Saturday’s against Harrow,” Mr Painter told www.margate-fc.com.

“That win edged us closer to the play-off positions - a positive position for the club to be in at this stage of the season, and good news for the supporters and players.”

Mr Painter, who has taken on responsibility for commercial matters within the Hartsdown Park club, is urging past, present and future fans to come and support the Blues in this important Ryman Premier League Kent derby.

A win for Margate could see Robin Trott’s men climb to fifth place in the table, just one place behind Thanet rivals, Ramsgate.

“Can I please call on all supporters, friends and families to come to the match against Maidstone and show how much you are behind Margate Football Club,” said Mr Painter.

And he added: “You really do make a difference!”

www.kentishfootball.co.uk will be making our first trip of the season to Hartsdown Park on Saturday.
