Mark Harris returns to Holmesdale as new chairman
Tuesday 08th June 2010
HOLMESDALE have today unveiled the club’s new chairman to replace Ray Tolfrey who stepped down at the club’s Annual General Meeting last Friday, writes Stephen McCartney.
Mark Harris was voted in at the meeting and takes over the reigns with immediate effect.
Mr Harris has already been looking at things both on and off the field as the Bromley based club are working towards some specific goals as the club look forward to good times ahead under his leadership.
“I originally joined Holmesdale in 1985 and spent many years as a manager and committee member,” he said in a statement issued on www.holmesdalefc.co.uk.
“I have continued to monitor the club’s progress via a number of close friends who have remained involved and it seemed a natural point in the cycle to return to the fold and help the club in its next stage of development.”
Next season will be the club’s fourth in the Kent League, having finished in 15th, 5th and 10th place in their relatively young history at this level.
“The progress made in the last few years has been impressive, in particular the playing facilities and clubhouse, something we were sadly lacking in the eighties and nineties,” added Mr Harris.
“There are a number of new faces and a strong team ethic.
“My enjoyment is driven out of seeing progress made both on and off the pitch and people enjoying and developing a team spirit.”
Mr Harris spoke about his future plans for the club, based at Oakley Road, Bromley.
“I have been impressed with what I have seen to date,” he said. “I aim to bring everyone together and ensure we achieve the objective we set for the club, both on and off the field, whilst also bringing financially stability via increased commercial activity.”
