Martin: We need to march into those play-off's - EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEWS

The Cray Wanderers camp have admitted that they’re not looking forward to their second visit of the season to Bourne Park on Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.
The Wands climbed into eighth place in the Ryman League Division One South table following back-to-back wins over Surrey sides Molesey and Kingstonian.
 
Former Bromley and Margate striker, Adolph Amoako gave the K’s the lead within three minutes of Monday’s clash at Kingsmeadow.
 
But a brace from Welsh striker, Andy Martin, gave Ian Jenkins’ side the advantage at the break.
 
The second half, however, disappointed the 254 fans that braved the cold snap.
 
But you should never leave a game early as three goals were scored in the last five minutes of a dull game.
 
The Wood brothers, Jamie and Lewis, both scored stunning goals to take their tallies up to eleven each for the season.
 
Jenkins, meanwhile, is not relishing their second trip to Bourne Park on Saturday, having lost 1-0 to tenants Maidstone United in November.
 
“If it’s anything like we played Maidstone down there the other week, I’m not looking forward to it to be honest with you,” he said EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk following Monday’s win.
 
“They absolutely battered us in really bad conditions, wind and rain.
 
“If it’s a nice, still day then obviously we’ll play our normal football and hopefully beat them.”

The Brickies, still waiting to win their first game of the New Year, dropped down to 12^th place as midweek results went against Steve Lovell’s side.
 
Jenkins added: “I think everyone’s up there.  The teams you expect to be up there are there.  They’re all fighting for the one promotion place and four to go into the play-off’s.”
 
Former Tonbridge Angels’ striker, Andy Martin, meanwhile, will be hoping to continue his good goalscoring form.

Martin scored eleven goals for Tony Dolby’s side before switching to Cray Wanderers earlier in the month and has netted three goals for his new side.

He said: “I’ve spoke to Alan Walker last week and he said the surface down there is absolutely diabolical because obviously Maidstone groundshare with Sittingbourne.
 
“It will be tough down there.  Like I say, we’re on a little bit of a run at the moment so hopefully we’ll go there and march on from there.”
 
The 26-year-old has settled in well following his move.
 
“I’m enjoying it,” he said.  “A great bunch of lads and the manager Jenko and his assistant Joe (Francis) are really good guys.
 
“We’re on a little bit of a run at the moment so long may it continue and long may I continue scoring and we’ll see if we can hit them play-off’s again.”
 
Jenkins admitted he is looking forward to the Wands’ visit to Princes Park – voted Non-League football’s best stadium by Groundtastic magazine.
 
Speaking about the 3^rd February clash against Dartford, Jenkins said: “We’re looking forward to it.  I get on really well with (Darts boss) Tony (Burman).

”They’ve done well since we beat them 4-0 (on 18^th November).
 
“Tony spoke to me the other day and he said that was the kick they needed to kick-start their season because we beat them 4-0 and absolutely dominated the game.
 
“They’ve gone on and we haven’t.  That’s the thing.  They’ve got something out of that and we didn’t.”
 
Veteran striker Gary Abbott (neck) has been ruled out of Saturday’s Kent derby but Jenkins revealed that former Bromley defender, Mark Willy and Danny Whelan are expected to return within a couple of weeks.
