McKimm is our rock, admits Margate's player-boss Trott

Friday 12th January 2007
Despite the postponement of Margate’s game at East Thurrock last Saturday, the Blues remained at the top of the table on goals scored, from Chelmsford. But the Clarets took three points from their mid-week fixture at Wimbledon to go top of the table having played one game more than Gate, writes Steve Wells. With three wins, two draws and just a single defeat in their last six games, Margate continue to be close to the top of the current form table. In fact Gate’s home form is ranked 3, having taken 13 from a possible 18 points.

Pat Sappleton (ankle) looks likely to return to the starting line up for Worthing’s visit to Hartsdown Park tomorrow with James Donovan making way.

But Paul Abbott should retain his place as captain Steve McKimm (knee) continues his recovery from the injury he picked up against Ramsgate on Boxing Day.

On McKimm, player-manager Robin  Trott told www.margate-fc.com : “We’ve had the injury to Steve McKimm. Hopefully it’s not going to be too bad, because he’s a rock in the middle and he’s a good captain of the club.”

The Rebels have disappointed this season, having promised to make the play-offs for so much of last season.

Still in the league’s bottom three, Worthing have picked up some form of late, and currently sit just below half way in the form table.

However, with just one win in their last six away games, Margate will start as firm favourites.
