Metrogas promote from within as Mark Warner gets first team job

METROGAS have appointed Mark Warner as their new first team manager for next season.

The club are currently second-from-bottom in the Andreas Carter Joma Kent County League Premier Division table with 15 points from their 22 games.  They are a couple of points adrift of Hildenborough Athletic but they do have five games in hand.

Warner joined the club at the beginning of the season and has successfully guided the ‘s reserve side to its current position of third-place in the Andreas Carter Joma Kent County League Division Three West table as well as reaching the Kent Junior Cup Final, to be played at Maidstone United on 6 May.

Warner will be joined by current assistant manager Frank Shaw, who joined Warner’s backroom team earlier on in the season.

Secretary Tim Morgan said: “Mark has been an excellent addition to the club and his commitment and desire has shone through with the results he’s achieved.

“He was the stand out choice for both myself and the other committee members and we wish Mark every success next season.”

Now that Warner has been promoted from reserve team to first team, the New Eltham based club begin the search for a new reserve team manager.

Mr Morgan added: “We are looking for a manager who could work with both existing players but also look to strengthen the squad ahead of the coming season.

“The manager would be required to work closely with the first team manager during training and also with squad selection.

“The role would suit someone who has experience of management but who may be looking to take the next step in their managerial career or someone looking for their first role in management.”

The New Eltham based club are also searching for a manager for their development side, coaching players aged between 16-23, to compete either in the Kent County League or South London Alliance next season.

“The role would be ideal for someone looking to make the transition from youth football to Saturday adult football and would be able to attract players who would be interested in this excellent opportunity,” said the club secretary.

Meanwhile, Kings Hill, who lead the Division One Central & East Division, begin the search for a new coach, assisting joint-managers Kane Rice and Simon Austin, who both played for Maidstone United during their playing days.
