My squad will only get stronger, says Glebe boss Rocky McMillan

GLEBE boss Rocky McMillan says he is looking forward to the New Year.



The Bromley-based outfit are in the bottom five in the Kent Invicta League table with 13 points from 13 games.

They welcome third-from-bottom side Meridian VP to Oakley Road tomorrow and McMillan, who is also the club’s chairman said: “I’m looking forward to welcoming Meridian.  We managed to beat them 4-0 a few weeks ago but we played extremely well that day.  They’ve added to their squad so I’m looking forward to a tough game.

“We’ve got three games, two at home. Meridian then Seven Acre & Sidcup on the 28^th December, before we travel to Crockenhill for the first game of the New Year.

“The fixtures are good as there’s not too much travelling. The games are spread nicely so I’m hoping to take points form all games.”

Reflecting on the club’s inaugural campaign in senior football, McMillan said: ”All in all I’m delighted with the first few months. I cannot wait for the second half of the season!

“It’s been a great learning curve so far. There’s still a few positions we’re a bit heavy on and a couple where we’re light.  Hopefully I will do some business in January.

“Nothing I’ve witnessed stops me from believing we can grow from the base we’ve achieved.

“Apart from Crockenhill, we’ve played every team and competed in every single match. 

“It’s been a tough month playing top five teams without three first choice defenders but the youngsters have done extremely well and the experience will be fantastic.”

Looking into the future, McMillan added: “My squad will only get stronger. I’m really looking forward to the New Year. We’re young and hungry. I’m getting together a group who I trust and feel the same way about my aims and ambitions.

“We are geared up with great administration and facilities and I’m keen to maintain and bring in new sponsors for next season.”
