New Sevenoaks Town boss Darren Anslow set to start from scratch

Monday 20th June 2011
NEW Sevenoaks Town boss Darren Anslow held his first pre-season training session at the weekend – although none of last season’s squad turned up at Coopers School in Chislehurst.

Anslow is the Kent League club’s third manager in as many years and last season’s boss, Keith Levett, blooded numerous players from Welling United’s academy, which he run, but Levett was appointed the new assistant manager at Chatham Town last month.

"They were offered the opportunity to come back, and they had my number,” Anslow, who won the Kent League reserve double with Cray Wanderers last season told www.sevenoakstownfc.org.

"We had 22 players there, and four or five are still away on holiday. Seven or eight were new to me, and I had invited a couple more myself, and a few came with other players.

"I had a chat with them for about 15 minutes, telling them what I am expecting from pre-season, the list of training days and the friendlies. The session was very light and lasted about 80 minutes."

Anslow added: "We have started a week earlier than usual to buy myself a bit more time. I want to have a rough idea of my squad after the second friendly, so I have got things settled."

He plans three sessions every week on Monday and Thursday night's and Saturdays.

Sevenoaks Town begin their pre-season campaign against Bridon Ropes on Saturday 9 July.

Meanwhile, Sevenoaks FC were voted into the Haart Kent County League at the annual meeting in Sittingbourne.

They were one of 10 clubs confirmed in the league’s new 2011-12 constitution and the club’s reserves will play in Division Two East.

The Kent County League also announced a new three-year sponsorship deal which will see Haart, one of Europe’s top independent estate agents, with strong links in Kent, replace Vandanel, who continue their support as secondary sponsors.

The side will be managed by John James.
