Norton Sports welcomed into Kent League
NORTON SPORTS, who clinched the Vandanel Kent County League Premier Division, have been promoted into the Kent League.
The Kent League's AGM voted unanimously to elect Norton Sports to membership. The Football Association exercised their discretion in not enforcing the rule about not using ground sharing for promotion and left it for the Kent League to decide.
Norton have financial stability through a major sponsor who has committed to them for five years and plans are well advanced for them to have their own ground.
Details are not available due to commercial confidentiality but the League's management committee have details in confidence and are satisfied. Many people spoke in favour of their admittance and no-one spoke against.
The AGM also voted for the Premier Division Cup competition to return to a straight knockout format with all rounds being played on a home and away basis up to and including the semi-finals. The Cup for reserve sides will remain as a single match knock-out.
Welling United’s reserve side were also elected to the second division of the Kent League and will play their home games at Corinthian.
