Nott begins search for first team coach
Monday 10th May 2010
MAIDSTONE UNITED manager Peter Nott says he is searching for a new first team coach as he prepares for his first full season in charge of the club, writes Stephen McCartney.
Nott and his assistant Terry Cornwell were promoted from the reserve team set-up to replace Lloyd Hume and Alan Walker as caretaker managers in February, in what could be described as trying circumstances.
Taking charge of nineteen league games, all crammed into the last three months of the season, the pair maintained the club’s Ryman Premier League status in the penultimate league game of the season.
The pair were rewarded by being made permanent and Nott is looking for a qualified first team coach to work alongside the existing management team.
“The successful applicant should be qualified to UEFA B level or above and have a proven track record at this level,” Nott told www.kentishfootball.co.uk tonight.
Looking forward to his first full season in charge, Nott added: “I’m very much looking forward to it and building my team and the pre-season preparations are starting to take place.
“We are working on a very much reduced budget and our initial aim is to make sure we’re in the Ryman (Premier) and if we finish halfway that will probably suffice.
“It’s a year of stability, working off the budget that we’ve got. That’s not looking at it on a negative aspect, it’s being realistic on the budget that we’ve got.
“Midtable will be a big improvement on last year.”
Meanwhile, the club confirmed today that both Roland Edge and Lyndon Rowland will not feature for the Stones next season.
A club statement added: “Both players have made a significant contribution during their spell with the club and we wish them every success for the future.
“The majority of the other players have either signed or are in the process of signing, some on a contract basis, and we are still currently in discussion with a couple of players who have not yet committed but this is not uncommon at this stage.
“We are also in discussion with a couple of potential new signings and will keep you informed of any positive developments on this front.”
