O'Boyle confident going into Vase trip to Wick

Thursday 04th September 2008

ERITH TOWN boss Steve O’Boyle is confident of winning their FA Carlsberg Vase tie at Wick on Saturday - despite a couple of players seeing their future's lie elsewhere, writes Stephen McCartney.

Former Dockers’ player-manager Mark Tompkins, who was appointed the new manager of Croydon last Friday, has returned to his former club to make a seven-day approach for Adam Heaslewood, who is expected to sign for the Trams next Wednesday, whilst Danny Twinn has opted for a move to Beckenham Town, in an attempt to kick-start their season.

But O’Boyle, speaking to www.kentishfootball.co.uk tonight, revealed that Ashley Douglas (back) is doubtful, so he drafts Paul Votier into his squad for their trip to Coomes Way.

The Erith Town manager was pleased with the performance from his side, despite going out of the FA Cup at the preliminary round stage last weekend, losing 2-1 at Ryman League Division One North outfit Brentwood Town.

“After last week’s good performance in the FA Cup, I am looking forward to the game at Wick,” said O’Boyle.

“We played some good stuff and were desperately unlucky to lose to Brentwood Town.

“Wick are a good side, but we should go there full of confidence from last week.

“If we conduct ourselves in the same way, hopefully we can come away with a result.”
