O'Boyle: We are in desperate need of a win

Wednesday 27th January 2010
ERITH TOWN boss Steve O’Boyle says he is looking for a positive reaction when he takes his side to Holmesdale on Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Dockers were dumped out of the Kent League Cup by Beckenham Town last Monday, losing to a last-gasp Anthony Weir strike to go down 3-2 at home and 5-2 on aggregate, having lost 2-0 at Eden Park Avenue in the first leg.

Two goals from central midfielder, Lee Morgan, wasn’t enough to progress, as the Dockers suffered their third defeat at the hands of Jason Huntley’s side this season.

And O’Boyle,  whose side have now gone three games without a win, wants to see a marked improvement when he takes his side to Oakley Road at the weekend, to tackle a Holmesdale side that are a couple of places below them in the Kent League table.

“They’ll be exactly the same as Beckenham,” O’Boyle told www.kentishfootball.co.uk following his side’s quarter-final exit.

“They’re going to work hard, I’ve heard that they work hard.  No-one’s getting paid down there.  They’re going to be as hard working as Beckenham and if we’re not going to match their work-rate we might as well not turn up.

“We’ll train on Wednesday night and hopefully prepare for the game right, but we are in desperate need of a win.”
