On a good day, Bromley will beat anyone in the league, warns Dover Athletic boss Chris Kinnear

DOVER ATHLETIC boss Chris Kinnear praised the fans' support after Saturday's abandonment at Salisbury City due to hail and rain, and is looking forward to Tuesday night's home game against Bromley.

The former Margate boss was disappointed Saturday's game was called off due to heavy rain, more so for the 150 loyal fans that made the three hour journey to Salisbury.

Kinnear told www.doverathletic.com: "Myself and the players were happy to carry on, but to be fair, it was really coming down and hailing really hard.

"The lads are more upset for the Dover supporters, who were actually louder than the home fans."

Despite the discontinuation of the match, Kinnear was pleased with his team's efforts during a goalless first half: "The conditions were not easy, but the lads stood up admirably and we had the better chances. Ricky (Modeste) was the man of the match."

Another player that impressed despite the heavy rainfall was recent signing Michael Kamara, who has signed until the end of the season from Ryman Premier League side Carshalton Athletic.

Kinnear said: "Michael had a nice debut. He had trials with Tranmere and Dagenham & Redbridge earlier in the season and I'm looking forward to see what he can do. It's good to have utility players and he will give us more balance across the back four as he can play at right back or at centre back."

The signing of Kamara also allows Kinnear to continue to vary formations and tactics.

He said: "It's all about winning games and I pick the team suited to who we are playing - I'm not even adverse to changing a winning team. Kevin Raine does a lot of scouting and will give me a comprehensive report that I can translate to the players. We still play the way we want, but it helps not to have any shocks."

Tuesday night sees the visit of tenth-placed Bromley to Crabble and the Dover boss is under no illusions as to the difficulty ahead against a team that has already tasted success at Crabble earlier this season in the FA Cup.

Kinnear added: “On a good day, Bromley will beat anyone in the league. They have a lot of flair players."

Ben May has flu and Barry Cogan had to be substituted on Saturday due to a groin injury but both hope to be involved against Bromley.

One player who won't be part of Tuesday's squad is Terry Dixon, who has joined Ryman Premier League side Thurrock on a month's loan.

Kinnear said: "He's been down recently and because of injuries I've not had the opportunity to see him play. So we shall see how he does."
