One of these days we'll get a hatful of goals, warns Bromley boss Mark Goldberg

BROMLEY boss Mark Goldberg says three of his impact players can make a difference in their survival bid.

The Ravens stretched their winless run to thirteen after coming away from Kent rivals Tonbridge Angels with a point on New Years’ Day.

The Blue Square Bet South clash finished 1-1 as Aaron Rhule’s first goal of the season earned Bromley a deserved point in atrocious conditions on a waterlogged pitch at Longmead Stadium.

The introductions of Rhule, Ibra Sekajja and Danny Waldren from the substitutes bench after the hour-mark inspired Bromley, who showed plenty of character, especially after going down to Chris Henry’s curling 25-yard drive in the final fourteen minutes.

And when asked if the trio will start when Basingstoke Town visit Hayes Lane on Saturday, Goldberg said: “I doubt I’ll make any decisions like that.  We’ll look at how they’ll train during the week.   We’ll judge it over the course of this coming week.

“Sometimes players are good impact players and they aren’t necessarily the right players to start.”

Bromley are just one place and one point above the relegation zone and have only nineteen league games remaining to maintain their Conference South status.

They have collected 21 points from 23 games and have not won a league game at Hayes Lane since bitter-rivals Sutton United were beaten 3-0 back on 27 August.

Goldberg says it’s about time that dismal record came to an end, starting with a visit from ninth-placed Basingstoke Town, who arrive in Kent on a run of five league games without a win.

“What is there? Nineteen games left. We just have to keep picking up draws and a win.  If we get a win then a draw, we just have to pick up points and we’ve got to stop the rot of losing.

“We’re cutting out the silly mistakes.  Our back four looks better, looks stronger, secure.

“I think we’re capable of scoring goals. One of these days we’ll get a hatful of goals.  It’s just not quite ticking for us at the moment.”

Meanwhile, the club confirmed that the youth loan of Charlton Athletic midfielder Freddie Warren has been extended for a further month.  He has featured in every league fixture since joining the club on loan with five starts and one substitute appearance but Taylor Parmenter has returned to Premier League club Queen’s Park Rangers.
