Our last four games has taken its toll, says Sittingbourne boss Gary Abbott
The Brickies slipped to a 2-1 defeat away to Kent rivals Whitstable Town last night and as a result remain in sixth place in the Ryman League Division One South table after nine games.
Abbott takes his side to Bedfordshire to tackle Arlesey Town, a side that are presently unbeaten at home and are presently in second place in the Zamaretto League Division One Central Division, level on (nineteen) points with league leaders Marlow.
“I don’t know much about Arlesey, I’ve seen their league position and they are on a good run, but we’ll go there and try to bounce straight back,” Abbott told www.kentishfootball.co.uk.
“We’ll have a couple of players missing; Tom (Bradbrook) is away, but we’ve got Jimmy Bottle back.
“We’ll go there and try to keep it tight, maybe 4-5-1 and it would be nice if either us or Burgess Hill can draw, so we don’t have to go their next week without Tom.
“If not, we’ll go there and get what we can out of it.”
Abbott explained why he is giving his players a night off training on Thursday night.
He said: “I thought we looked tired last night. We’ve worked so hard over the last four games, and we knew it would be tough.
“Last year we came here and it was a hard 1-0. Take nothing away from Whitstable, we knew what they would be about and we deserved nothing in the end.
“Hopefully we can get a result Saturday and kick on from there again.”
