Our quality shone through in the end, says play-off chasing Ford

Trailing at the break, courtesy of Warren McBean’s 12^th goal of the season, totally against the run of play, Ford was pleased that goals from Charlie Sheringham - his 13^th of the season - Tony Sinclair and Moses Ademola during a devastating nine-minute spell sealed the points.

The Wings climbed one place to sixth in the Blue Square South table with 36 points from 21 games - level on points with Team Bath, who occupy the final play-off berth.

And Ford, speaking to BBC Radio Kent, was pleased with his side’s second half performance and says he wants to guide the Park View Road club into the end of season play-off lottery.

“Very pleased with the second half performance, I think it was a game of two halves,” he said.

“We were very slow out of the blocks today first half. I thought we were very poor but where we’ve been not putting in a good shift in the second half recently, over the last three or four games, the second half today was much better, which was pleasing.

“It shows that our fitness levels are not a problem.

“Today, we showed a lot of character. I put a bit of pressure on them today to make sure we came here with three points because we need to get into that play-off position.

“The only way we’re going to do that is put three or four back-to-back wins and that’s what we’re doing at the moment, which is good.”

Praising Sheringham’s stunning strike, Ford wants more from right-sided winger, Sanchez Ming.

“A bit of quality at half-time was what I was asking for and that’s what we got,” said Ford.

“Charlie Sheringham’s first goal was absolutely fantastic. He’s scored some great goals recently and that was quality, without a doubt, pure quality and obviously the second one, that was a good goal as well.

“So the quality I asked for at half-time, which wasn’t there in the first half, won us the game.

“We were aware that Sanchez was going to maybe be a bit of a ploy for us today.

“He’s coming on a bit stronger at the moment, which is good. He’s learning, trying to get some discipline into his play and into his life.

“It’s a bit hard but the more he says with us the better he’ll get.”
