Our vision is the play-offs next season, says Whitstable Town boss Justin Luchford

WHITSTABLE TOWN manager Justin Luchford says Micheal Everitt is a great new addition to his team.

Everitt, 29, who was Folkestone Invicta’s record appearance holder, opted to leave Cheriton Road at the end of last season after Neil Cugley’s side finished their campaign in fourth-place in the Ryman League Division One South table.

Luchford told www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk: “Micheal Everitt is a massive signing for us as he comes with loads of experience, the skipper at Folkestone and is strong and committed.  Micheal will be a great addition to the side.”

Luchford has also re-signed striker Ian Pulman from Ramsgate, central defender Lawrence Harvey and  talented midfielder Jake  Beecroft.

He said: “We were delighted when Jake signed the other week.  I wanted to keep it low key until pen was put to paper for the new guys.

“Ian will need no introduction to the supporters and they will be as delighted as I am that he will be pulling the red shirt of Whitstable Town for next season.

“Lawrence is another key signing and the few matches he has played for Whitstable Town showed just how lucky we are to have Lawrence commit to the club.

“It shows that all the guys believe in the vision we have and that is to be a side whose aim is play-offs at the end of the season.”

Luchford added: “Along with the backroom staff I have brought on board they are all important parts of my plans for the long-term future of Whitstable Town.”

Whitstable Town are renowned as a side that are perennial strugglers pre-Christmas before points are picked up to survive the drop come the end of the season.

But Luchford, who led Faversham Town out of the Kent League three years’ ago, added: “There is more to come.  I will be adding to the squad we already have so that we can be up there with the best sides in the Ryman South come the end of the season.”
