People will have to deal with the frustrations of being dropped, says Dover Athletic boss Hayes

Sunday 28th August 2011
DOVER ATHLETIC boss Martin Hayes says he wants his regular rotated side to punish Sutton United at Gander Green Lane tomorrow, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Whites were held to two derby day home draws to Dartford (2-2) in midweek and they were held to a goal-less draw by Tonbridge Angels yesterday.

Hayes made five changes to his side that faced Tommy Warrilow’s side yesterday and has changed team personnel for seventeen consecutive games.

Dover Athletic sit in eighth place in Blue Square Bet South with 8 points out of fifteen available, and travel to Sutton tomorrow, who are smarting from a 3-0 defeat to Bromley at Hayes Lane.

Bromley moved into fourth place in the table – four points behind leaders Welling United – after they sealed victory, courtesy of goals from Harry Harding, Danny Waldren and Hakeem Araba.  Mark Goldberg’s side bounced back, having suffered a 5-0 midweek defeat at Eastbourne Borough.

Looking ahead to playing Paul Doswell’s side, Hayes said: “They’re a good, strong experienced side.  It’s always difficult down there.  I’m sure it will be a tough match.

“We’ll go down there and hopefully they’ll come at us and we can try to punish them but we’re confident home and away that we can go and get results and to win games.”

After tomorrow, Conference South clubs would have played six league games in sixteen days, but the hectic fixture list will drop down to one game a week, starting from next Saturday’s tasty trip to Chelmsford City (3:30pm), and Hayes will use a more settled squad, having already used 20 players this season.  Only transfer listed defender, Ollie Schulz, hasn’t featured so far.

“After Monday we’ll sit down,” explained Hayes.  “We’ve given everybody a few games to play and show what they can do.

“Everybody’s frustrated that their not playing so we’ll make a decision. I’ll sit down on Monday and we’ll see what we do for the following Saturday at Chelmsford and we’ll make a decision and then how it pans out over the course of the next few games so it may well settle down to who I think is doing the best job so people will have to deal with the frustrations of being on the bench or in the stand.”
