The reserves that have come in have been excellent, says Phoenix Sports manager Paul Bryon
PHOENIX SPORTS manager Paul Bryon says he is keen to blood some of the club’s young talent during their final seven league games of the season.
The club are in ninth-place in the Bostik South East Division table, having collected 39 points and Jeff Duah-Kessie’s 22nd goal of the season sealed a single goal home victory over Sevenoaks Town last Saturday.
“It was a good result for us last week at home to Sevenoaks,” said Bryon.
“I thought we played well in the first half and moved the ball well. Second half we struggled to get to grips with it and in the end we were hanging on a bit.
“The wind played a factor and both teams seemed to play better into the wind.
“The three points were important as it would have put Sevenoaks above us in the league if they had won.”
Bryon takes his side to tenth-placed side Ramsgate tomorrow, a club that handed their manager Nick Davis a new contract until the end of next season.
“This week we go to Ramsgate to see our friend Mr Davis. Nick’s done a good job there so far and it will be very difficult down there,” warned Bryon.
“We are up for it though and have recently improved our defensive record and only conceded one goal in four games, which gives us a good grounding going into the last seven games of the season.
“We have been stretched recently as a squad and I’m happy to say the reserves that have come in have been excellent.
“Andrew Dythe has moved up to the first team squad permanently and he is a good prospect for the future.
“Ryan Solan got minutes last week and did very well and Ollie Andrews is more than capable of doing a job for us so yet again it’s another good year from the reserves with plenty of talent coming through.”
