Steve O'Boyle steps down as Phoenix Sports manager: Difficult decision but decided to resign from my post
STEVE O’BOYLE has dropped a bombshell by resigning from his role as Phoenix Sports’ manager tonight.
The club were playing in the tenth-tier of English football, the Kent Invicta League, when O’Boyle first took charge of the club.
SHOCK DEPARTURE: Steve O'Boyle, who guided Phoenix Sports to the Kent Invicta League and Southern Counties East Football League titles, has resigned as manager tonight.
Now the Barnehurst based club find themselves playing at their highest level of football after O’Boyle guided the club to two league titles and at the time of his shock resignation they are sitting in tenth-place in the Bostik South, having collected 21 points from their 13 league games this season.
O’Boyle’s last game in charge of the club was for their 2-0 home win over struggling Ashford United on Tuesday night.
“Difficult decision but decided to resign from my post as first team manager at Phoenix,” O’Boyle posted on his Twitter account tonight.
“Would also like to thank everyone at Phoenix for all your help and support over the last six years.”
The club have yet announced whom will be in charge for Saturday’s home Bostik South league game against East Grinstead Town.
