Phoenix Sports boss Steve O'Boyle appoints Keith McMahon as his new assistant manager
PHOENIX SPORTS manager Steve O’Boyle has appointed Keith McMahon as his new first team assistant manager.
McMahon, who has previously managed Thamesmead Town, VCD Athletic and Whitstable Town, has replaced Dean Bowey, who has departed the club.
“Keith is a long-time friend of the club, has a huge amount of experience of football at this level and Boyley is delighted to be able to bring someone with his knowledge into the fold,” said a club statement.
“Keith has a great record of bringing youth players through the system – a philosophy that fits well within the mindset here at Phoenix.
“Keith replaces the outgoing Dean Bowey, who leaves the club after playing a huge role as part of the backroom team that led us to promotion from Step Five last season.
“Dean was hugely popular among the players, staff and fans. We thank him for his time with us and now look forward to seeing him as a fan at our games for many years to come.”
McMahon has been out of senior football management after leaving Whitstable Town on Monday 21 March 2022 after claiming eight wins from his 29 games in charge at Belmont Road.
The Oystermen and Phoenix Sports were relegated from the Isthmian League South East Division at the end of the season.
Phoenix Sports are now in sixteenth-place in the Isthmian League South East Division table having picked up four points from their opening six games.
O’Boyle's men welcome surprise league leaders Three Bridges on Saturday (15:00).
