PHOENIX SPORTS are proud to announce a new partnership with Extra Edge Football Scouting. The Barnehurst based club appointed a new management team earlier in the month with Steve O’Boyle and Tony Beckingham taking dual responsibility of team affairs.
Previous manager Scott Saunders led the club to runners-up spot in the inaugural Kent Invicta League season, losing the title by only two points to Bly Spartans (now Rochester United), who will be playing Kent League football next season.
The Medway side also defeated Phoenix in the inaugural Kent Invicta Challenge Trophy Final on penalties, after the game finished all square at 2-2 after extra time at Welling United’s Park View Road ground over Easter.
But Phoenix Sports have adopted a more professional approach for next season, as they bid to go one better.
The club met recently to discuss a team and player performance package that will take the club to a new level.
Andy Kidby and Danny Hill both come with professional scouting experience working for Scout7, Academy scouts for Leicester City and Leyton Orient respectively with Hill holding a degree in sports science.
Extra Edge is an innovative company who already have products on the market that help with scouting and analysis of football matches.
Kidby said: “I will be concentrating on video analysis, statistical trends in matches, opposition scouting and will also be a link to the youth section.
“Danny with his experience in coaching and sports science will be concentrating on player performance and development, looking at ways to enhance performance via nutrition and tactical awareness.
“The analysis will evolve throughout the season and both parties are looking forward to pushing the club forward.
“The youth section will also benefit from this new partnership, with both parties looking at new initiatives to enhance the youth section which will not just benefit the club, but show good progression into the first team.”
Extra Edge are looking for a trainee to help out for the coming season. This is NOT a paid job but the benefits and possibility of moving into professional scouting is available if the right candidate shows the right attitude and level of compatibility.
