Players attitude is second to none, says Langton
Monday 02nd November 2009
ASHFORD TOWN assistant manager Hugo Langton says he is confident that his side can claim their first win on the road at Walton & Hersham tomorrow night, writes Stephen McCartney.
The Nuts & Bolts have failed to win at any of their away games at Croydon Athletic, Sittingbourne, Metropolitan Police, Leatherhead, Corinthian-Casuals, Merstham, Bognor Regis Town, Worthing and Horsham YMCA this season - but Langton, speaking to www.kentishfootball.co.uk on the eve of the match, remains upbeat.
“Listen, we’re going to have a go tomorrow night, what’s the point otherwise,” he said.
“We’re going to go and attack them and play some good positive football, that’s our plan and we intend to stick to it.
“We had a great training session on Saturday and we’re looking forward to tomorrow night. The boys are buzzing and they can’t wait to play tomorrow night.
“Their attitude towards their football and being Ashford Town players is second to none, so no, we’re not worried about it. We knew it was going to take some time, I know we’ve been saying that for quite a long time now, but we’re going to be nice and positive.”
Langton believes that tomorrow’s game at Stompond Lane - a ground that has a running track surrounding the pitch - will warrant their first win on the road.
“It’s got to come eventually hasn’t it?” added Langton. “We’ve been a bit unlucky at times on the road this year.
“It would be nice to go down there with a nice win. We’re going to be positive, going down there to try and win the game.”
Paul Jones, Ryan Briggs and Danny Lye all trained at the weekend, as the club were without a game due to going out of the FA Carlsberg Trophy at the first attempt at Ryman Premier League strugglers Bognor Regis Town.
But striker Kevin Swaisland (hamstring) and goalkeeper Scott Chalmers-Stevens (who is at least a month away from training as he is now recovering from a knee operation) remain on the sidelines.
