I’m dealing with the same struggles that a lot of managers' deal with players’ attitudes and commitment and then the pressure mounts, says Punjab United boss Chipie Sian
PUNJAB UNITED manager Chipie Sian says he wants his players’ to show more commitment to the club.
The Gravesend based side has lost all five of their games this season and sit at the foot of the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table
They began their campaign with a 2-1 defeat at Beckenham Town and scored an own-goal to lose 1-0 to Broadbridge Heath on their FA Cup debut.
Sian’s men have since lost to Crowborough Athletic (0-2); Lordswood (0-2) and Corinthian (1-4).
Punjab United host Southern Combination First Division side Selsey in The Buildbase FA Vase First Qualifying Round tomorrow and with their visitors’ playing at a lower level of football, Sian demands a victory.
Selsey are in sixth-place in the table, having collected seven points from four league games.
Sian has released much-travelled striker Laurent Hamici last week and he has since signed for their league rivals Sheppey United today.
“I’m really looking forward to this game. We got through last season at Lydd Town and I’m hoping we can do the same tomorrow,” said Sian.
“I don’t know a lot about our opposition but it’s not going to be an easy game for sure.
“As our league form hasn’t been great but we have played well and even though we have lost the games, we outplayed the teams but haven’t scored our chances and I’m hoping our luck changes soon.
“It’s again going to be a tough season ahead with new players’ coming in and it takes time to settle.
“Having let Laurent Hamici go last week, we will take our time to recruit players and not rush.
“I’m dealing with the same struggles that a lot of managers' deal with players’ attitudes and commitment and then the pressure mounts but this is football, it’s passionate and frustrating at times but this is why we love the game.
“The club has changed a lot, teams will see the investment in our new bar and changing rooms. The club is in a good position off the pitch, we just need to start with a win on Saturday to help us gain the confidence to push on in the league.”
