Will Graham returns to coach Ramsgate: I care so much about this club and I will be putting all of my heart into this position
RAMSGATE manager Nick Davis has appointed Will Graham as his new first team coach.
Graham, 33, has previously worked with Charlton Athletic’s Academy, Dover Athletic, Whitstable Town, Hythe Town and helped Ben Smith’s Canterbury City reach the FA Vase Semi-Finals and left last week following Smith’s controversial sacking from the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division club.
“I’m extremely happy to be back in the Bostik League,” Graham told www.ramsgate-fc.co.uk.
“I resigned at Hythe Town as assistant manager back in January 2017 due to joining the prison service and not being able to fully commit to the task.
“My intensions was to always return to coaching at the earliest opportunity. That chance came around December last year, when my friend Ben Smith at Canterbury asked for me to come in and help him improve the players’ he had and help him recruit some Bostik League players from my list of contacts.
“I had a really good experience at Canterbury – the lads were fantastic and The FA Vase run was amazing - but I always said to Ben my intensions was to coach at the highest level possible and that’s what has led me to join Ramsgate going forward.
“I have a strong connection with the club due to my personal playing experience with Ramsgate, alongside Nick Davis, so I’m excited to work with him once again in a different capacity.
“I respect Nick really highly in the coaching environment because he is ambitious and wants success, which I what I want too.”
Davis has previously said that he wants to guide Ramsgate towards the Bostik Premier Division next season.
“I still see all the supporters and directors after all these years, so it feels familiar and I want to bring the good old days back to the club,” added Graham.
“We will need to work extremely hard next season to be able to compete further up the table and we won’t take our foot of the gas.
“I care so much about this club and I will be putting all of my heart into this position.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing you all on our return to pre-season. Let’s try and make this season one to remember!”
Ramsgate beat Whyteleafe 2-1 at Southwood Stadium on the final day of the season to finish in eleventh-place in the Bostik South East Division table, having collected 45 points from their 36 league games.
