Ramsgate begin search for new chairman after Phil Fennell steps down after four and a half years
RAMSGATE chairman Phil Fennell has resigned after four and a half years at the helm at Southwood Stadium due to work and family commitments.
“Phil has been chairman of the club for four and a half years, during which time the youth section has over doubled in size with more than 350 players now registered, including for the first time, a girls’ team,” said a club statement, posted on www.ramsgate-fc.co.uk.
“Phil will remain as a board member and will continue to run the successful Academy team through his own company.
“The board wish to thank Phil for all his efforts during his time as chairman.
“The board will appoint an interim chairman whilst a search is undertaken for a permanent replacement. This will ensure that all aspects of the club continue to run seamlessly.”
The club kicked-off their new Bostik South East Division campaign with a 2-1 defeat at VCD Athletic at the weekend and travel to Bromley tonight to play their league rivals Cray Wanderers in the Kent Senior Cup First Round.
Ramsgate are in fifteenth-place in the table going into the game against Tony Russell’s side, in second after their 3-0 opening day win at Greenwich Borough.
