Ramsgate release Joe Taylor from his contract: We won't stand in his way, says joint-boss Jim Ward
RAMSGATE have released striker Joe Taylor from his contract to allow him to move to their Ryman Premier League neighbours Folkestone Invicta.
Taylor, 25, scored 33 goals for the Ryman League Division One South Rams last season and has already banged in five goals this term.
Ramsgate joint-manager Jim Ward told www.ramsgate-fc.co.uk: “We made it clear to the team and the lads that although they are on contract and we are not obliged to, if a club from a higher division came calling or showed interest, we would not stand in their way.
“We wish Joe all the best of luck, he is always welcome back at Southwood.
“This is now a good chance for youngsters to step up and take their opportunity. We have given plenty of chances to under 21s in the last 18 months and they have all done great. Let’s hope that continues.”
Taylor is expected to be in Folkestone Invicta’s squad for their trip to Dulwich Hamlet tomorrow.
Ramsgate sit slap bang in the middle of the 24-team Ryman League Division One South table on 10 points from 8 games and travel to fourth-placed Corinthian-Casuals tomorrow.
