Ramsgate begin search for "ambitious" coach - EXCLUSIVE

Sunday 20th May 2007

Ramsgate boss Jim Ward is searching for an “ambitious” person to coach his Ryman Premier League side, writes Stephen McCartney.

“We finished the season without a coach,” Ward said EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk today.

“People filled in, even some of the players filled in at the end, taking training, and doing warm ups and all sorts of things.

“Now we need somebody to take control of the whole coaching set-up.”

The Scot explained why former coach Mark Harrop can no longer commit himself to the Southwood Stadium club.

He said: “He could do a bit part-time but he couldn’t be fully committed, so I’m looking for somebody to come in.”

And Ward is searching for somebody with a “strong character” to coach a side that finished their first ever Ryman Premier League campaign in a respectable ninth place.

“He will have to be a strong character,” said Ward. “Sometimes it’s like playschool in my dressing room, but the players respond and respect the knowledge of coaches - the right people.

“Primarily the job will consist of, especially pre-season, levels of fitness. All the technical stuff we’ll do as we go on.

“And them levels of fitness have got to be retained.”

The former Maidstone United boss added: “I’m looking for somebody with ambition rather than money orientated, because that’s the sort of club we are.”
