Ramsgate part company with Tim Dixon after beating Tooting & Mitcham

Saturday 22nd February 2014
RAMSGATE parted company with manager Tim Dixon and his assistant manager Darren Beale after their victory over Tooting & Mitcham United today.

Goals from Ian Pulman and James Everitt sealed a 2-1 win at Southwood Stadium, but it didn’t prevent chairman Paul Jefcoate from wielding the axe.

The Rams are in eighth-place in the Ryman League Division One South table with 47 points from 32 games.

They remain nine points adrift of fifth-place, currently occupied by Hastings United.

Coach Steve Nolan parted company with the club on Thursday night and said that he is looking for a new club.

Players took to twitter to speak of their disappointment that Dixon and Beale have lost their jobs, especially after winning their fourteenth league game of the season this afternoon.

Pulman, who scored his seventeenth goal of the season, said: “Looks like that was my last game for Ramsgate – glad to have signed off with a goal and an assist.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure working under Tim Dixon and Darren Beale and not forgetting Steve Nolan, all top blokes. I’m still shocked.”

Central defender Ollie Schulz tweeted: “Shocked and disappointment is an understatement. It’s been a pleasure (playing for Tim, Darren and Steve) even if it was for a short time.”

Full-back Tom Parkinson, who is a coach at Maidstone United’s Academy and used to play for the club and now plays for league rivals Leatherhead added: “Just seen what’s happened at Ramsgate.  They’re never getting better managers than Tim Dixon, Darren Beale and Steve Nolan.

“Was a pleasure working under (all three) and hope to see them back in football soon.”

A “shocked” Dixon briefly tweeted that he’ll “be back soon.”

With messages of goodwill being posted on twitter following tonight’s news, Beale added: “Just like to say a big thanks to all the Rams players and fans for the kind messages you have sent. I wish you all the best for the rest of the season.”

Ramsgate have yet issued an official statement on their club website but it is understood that Jim Ward has returned to the club as manager for, at least, the last fourteen games of the season.

The Rams welcome struggling Whitstable Town to Southwood Stadium on Tuesday night.
