ERITH & BELVEDERE manager Micky Collins says he is delighted that highly-rated central defender Richie Davies has taken up the option of a further year on his contract with the Kent League club, despite interest from a number of clubs.

The Deres finished in second place in the Kent League last season, ten points behind promoted champions Herne Bay.

It was Erith & Belvedere’s best final placing since 1982 and Collins is delighted that the eighteen-year-old former Bromley youngster has put pen to paper to stay at Park View Road.

“It’s a massive boost to the football club and signals our intent to challenge for honours next season,” he said.

“Richie is a talent who has a positive impact on the field and in the dressing room where he is a popular figure.

“There has been a great deal of interest in Richie from a number of prominent pro clubs and I believe it is only a matter of time before he gets his chance.”
