Pixie Lott supports Ricky Bennett's charity fundraising efforts

ERITH TOWN joint-manager Ricky Bennett has called upon a famous member of his family to help him raise funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Bennett will be pounding the streets of London to run the London Marathon in April to raise funds for the charity after losing his mum to the cruel disease in 2014.

A fundraising page has been set-up on line, which has already raised £650 and a charity football match will be staged at one of Bennett’s old clubs, Ryman League Division One North outfit VCD Athletic, who play their games at Oakwood, Old Road, Crayford, on Sunday 2 April 2017.

Bennett said: “I’m doing the London Marathon this year and I’m looking to raise some funds.  I’ve arranged, I’ve just had it confirmed, a charity football match.

“I don’t know if you’re aware, my niece is Pixie Lott, who I know you’re a fan of, and I’ve arranged with her to try and get a team together of some celebs, possibly against my veterans football team.”

Pixie Lott, the Bromley born pop princess and actress, 26, who hit number one in the charts with her debut single “Mama Do” in June 2009, and was controversially voted off Strictly Come Dancing at the Quarter-Final stage in 2014, despite being the best dancer in the competition, is supporting the now retired former Cray Wanderers and VCD Athletic striker in his fund-raising efforts.

Last year, Pixie, who was born Victoria Louise Lott, starred as Holly Golightly in the West End hit Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Pixie announced her support to Bennett’s cause in a message on her official Twitter account on 28 December 2016.

Bennett’s goalscoring prowess has certainly rubbed off on his son Billy, who has scored 16 goals for Erith Town's Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division rivals Sevenoaks Town this season.
