Rio comes to Sittingbourne

Friday 10th October 2008

SITTINGBOURNE manager Gary Abbott has completed a loan signing in time of tomorrow’s home clash against Dulwich Hamlet, writes Stephen McCartney.

Defender Rio Alderton has teamed up with the Bourne Park outfit for an initial one-month loan spell.

Alderton started in the youth set-up at Millwall before moving to Essex to play in the Football League for Southend United before dropping into non-league football with Chelmsford City, Wivenhoe Town, Aveley and Leyton.

Sittingbourne secretary, Mr John Pitts told www.kentishfootball.co.uk this morning: “Gary feels that the defence needs more experience and Rio is the ideal man,”.

Meanwhile, fringe players, Andre Marques and Richard Styles have joined Bulmers Cider Kent League side Slade Green on loan to get some games under their belts.

Sittingbourne go into tomorrow’s game sitting in sixth place in the Ryman League Division One South table bidding to win their first league game on home soil against a Dulwich Hamlet side that are in fourteenth place, five points behind the Kent side.
