Rival offers cash for striker Gash

Saturday 06th June 2009
HAVING rejected a £30,000 bid from an unnamed Blue Square Premier club for Ebbsfleet United striker Michael Gash, MyFC members will now have to decide after fresh interest was shown by other clubs.

The new deal is worth £40,000, with half paid upfront, a further £10,000 to be paid on 1 January 2010 and a final payment of £10,000 to be made on 1 July 2010.

The club in question have asked to remain anonymous. They have stressed that this is a final offer and that they want a reply by Monday morning. MyFC has set the vote to close at 11.30 am on Monday 8 June. There are no sell-on clauses included in their offer.

Also of note is that the first unnamed club whose £30,000 offer was rejected as well as a third unnamed club are considering making additional offers for the former Cambridge City striker.

Almost 3,000 members took part in the £30,000 vote, with 2,548 opting for a 'no' - 90% of the total vote - and only 250 choosing to accept the bid.

The vote follows on from the 97% rejection of York City's £10,000 approach for Darius Charles on Thursday.

The club have confirmed that nine of last season's squad have quit Stonebridge Road to join new clubs; Rob French (to Faversham Town), Peter Hawkins (Maidstone United), Luke Moore (AFC Wimbledon), Stacy Long (Stevenage Borough), Sacha Opinel (Farnborough Town), George Purcell (Braintree Town), Mark Ricketts (Woking), Danny Slatter (Billericay Town) and James Smith (Farnborough Town).
