The feel around Rusthall is very positive at the moment, says joint-manager Andrew McKechnie
RUSTHALL joint-manager Andrew McKechnie says the club is very positive going into a big week of cup football.
Rusthall travel to Park View Road on Sunday to lock horns with Erith & Belvedere in The FA Vase First Qualifying Round, before hosting their first ever FA Cup tie at Jockey Farm on Wednesday night when Bostik South East Division side Cray Wanderers visit in The FA Cup Preliminary Round Replay.
The Rustics are presently sitting in the bottom three of the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table, having picked up one win from their opening five games.
Owen Jones’ Erith & Belvedere welcome Rusthall sitting in the top-four of the First Division table, having banked four wins and a draw from their first five league outings.
“The season has gone as expected so far. We knew it would take time for us to settle and improve as a side,” said McKechnie.
“We made lots of changes from last season but we are starting to see the improvements, the players are confident as we are starting to put it together.
“I know a little bit about Erith & Belvedere and know it will be a tough test but we are hoping for a good game.
“The FA Vase is a special competition that every club at this level wants to do well in. We will go there to be positive and enjoy the game.
“The feel around Rusthall is very positive at the moment, everyone involved can see what is happening and that are going in the right direction.
“It’s a nice place to be with everyone in the club working hard and coming together to make a successful team and club.”
