Rusthall sign Balmer "to add some steel"
Rusthall manager Hugo Langton was quick to make re-enforcements after his side’s home defeat against Fleet Leisure on Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.
Tunbridge Wells midfielder, Wayne Balmer put pen to paper to sign for the Jockey Farm club on Saturday evening - joining his brother Ian at the British Energy Kent County Premier League club.
“Wayne is a decent player and I am delighted to have him in,” Langton told www.kentishfootball.co.uk.
“He is full of energy and will add a bit of extra steel we may be missing.
“Wayne will definitely add quality and he will go straight into the squad for this week’s trip to Bromley Green.”
Former Gillingham ladies’ coach Langton, hasn’t been impressed with the standard of play in the Kent County League.”
He said: “I have a good squad here but today’s defeat put a few things into perspective, as some teams in this league prefer to keep the ball in the air, play route-one football and we need to learn to deal with this better.
“We need to compete more against teams like this, as they battle, and will do anything to stop you playing on the deck.
“All in all it was a horrible game to watch. The ball spent more time out of the ground than in it.
“In certain games now we need to adapt our play, keep the ball moving in midfield, be a bit more clever in our own play, and raise our own passing tempo.
“It was a lesson learnt today, and in many ways its good it has happened early in the season.”
Meanwhile, versatile player, Steve Ashmore has decided to leave Jockey Farm after three years - and has signed for Julian Leigh’s Tonbridge Angels’ reserve side.
Langton added: “Steve is a good honest lad and he felt this is an opportunity he wanted to go for, and I wish him the best.”
