Rusthall unveil Paul McDonagh as their new manager

Thursday 17th May 2012
RUSTHALL have tonight unveiled Paul McDonagh as their new first team manager following an extensive search.

The 39-year-old, who lives in Sevenoaks, has vast experience within the game and currently works for League One club Leyton Orient as a youth coach and also has links with League Two Gillingham, who are searching for a new manager after Andy Hessenthaler was asked – and later accepted – to fulfil a new role as director of football at Priestfield Stadium.

Last season McDonagh was first team coach under Keith McMahon at Thamesmead Town and helped the Bayliss Avenue club finish in tenth place in the Ryman League Division One North and prior to that he managed Bearsted, who were then in the top-flight of the Kent County League.

McDonagh already holds the UEFA B licence and is currently studying for the A licence.

A club statement said: “He is very ambitious and impressed the interview panel who felt that he shared the clubs ambitions.

“Pre-season should be an exciting time for the club and I am sure you will all join us in wishing him every success at the club.”

Rusthall finished in eleventh-place (of sixteen clubs) in the inaugural Kent Invicta League campaign, winning ten and drawing three of their 30 league games.
