Rustics capture Blundell from neighbouring Wells

Wednesday 11th July 2007

Hugo Langton, the new manager of British Energy Kent County League side Rusthall, has unveiled the signing of Dave Blundell, 21, writes Stephen McCartney.

Blundell, who scored eight goals for Rustics’ Kent League neighbours Tunbridge Wells last season, impressed during his new club’s 6-3 pre-season friendly win at Larkfield last Saturday.

“Dave is a quality player who can play out wide or up front if needed,” Langton told www.kentishfootball.co.uk tonight.

“He is pacy, has quick feet, and will be a major asset to the squad for the season ahead.

“He scored eight goals for Tunbridge Wells last season in the Kent Premier, and we are dead pleased to have him on board (and) he will cause opposition teams all kinds of problems.”

Blundell becomes Langton’s second major signing this summer, having already signed striker Lee Speirs.

“I said all along we need to add three quality players to the existing squad, and that’s two now with both Dave and Lee in,” said former Gillingham Ladies' coach Langton.

“I am hoping to bring in one more and I am hoping this particular player will sign on sooner rather than later.

“If we can get him in, then I feel everything will be in place squad wise.

“We’ll be well equipped in all areas and have decent competition and depth throughout the squad.”

Rusthall’s next pre-season friendly is at Kent League side Thamesmead Town on Thursday, 19th July.
