Whitstable Town chairman, Joe Brownett, told www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk:  “As chairman of Whitstable Town FC for many years it has been my privilege to know Sam Denly. He and his brother grew up with the club and I always found myself shooing them off the pitch as they were so keen to keep playing football.

“Sam has given Whitstable FC all his loyalty and has helped to keep lots of other local players involved with the club.

“Sam has often popped up to score some great goals and he will be sorely missed by the club. We wish Sam all the best for the future and thank him for being part of the club.”

Whitstable Town welcome Ryman Premier League side Margate to Belmont Road tomorrow (3pm) for their final pre-season friendly.
