Sampson expected to make full recovery, says Ward
Ramsgate boss Jim Ward brings some Christmas cheer, regarding Tommy Sampson, 53, whose recovering in Maidstone hospital following his recent small stroke, writes Stephen McCartney.
Ward, whose going Christmas carol signing with his wife at the Royal Albert Hall in London tomorrow, as Ramsgate are without a game as opponents Tonbridge Angels travel to Oxford United in the first round of the FA Carlsberg Trophy, said: “I went to see Tommy Sampson last night, he looked well.
“The only disappointing thing that happened to him, he is still bright as a spark.
“We sat for half an hour just talking football. He wanted to know the ins and outs of his club (Redhill).
“I’m no doctor but it looks to me if they can cure the stiffening down the left-hand side of his body, and the doctors say they can, he’ll make a full recovery and be back on the phone bothering me for a round of golf!
“Everybody at Ramsgate Football Club wish Tommy a full and speedy recovery.”
