Sampson to start extensive physio programme to aid return home
Monday 31st December 2007
With hours to go before we enter 2008, we bring you an update on Tommy Sampson, the Redhill manager who suffered a minor stroke four weeks ago, and is recovering at Maidstone hospital.
Tommy has sent the following message to www.kentishfootball.co.uk - by email sent by his wife Sandie earlier today.
He said: “Over the past four weeks I have received so many get well wishes from everyone.
“Progress is slow at the moment due to the tiredness and rest required for my recovery.“In the next few weeks we are hoping I will be moved to a rehabilitation centre to start an extensive physio programme.
“Once this is underway I am hoping for vast improvement in my mobility, which will allow me to be back home.
“I am kept informed of Redhill’s results with visits from managers and players.
“Hospital Radio doesn’t cover local football.
“I would like to thank (my assistant manager) Stuart McIntyre for his continued support and updates and of course my team of lads.
“I know you are doing your best, keep up the good work.
“However, until I am back in the dug-out, Sandie and I would like to wish everyone a very happy and peaceful new year.
“2008 is going to be a difficult one for me, a positive outlook for my speedy recovery and return home will be wonderful – and more points for Redhill Football Club. See you all soon!”
www.kentishfootball.co.uk and everybody involved in football here in the Garden of England wishes Tommy a speedy recovery and that he's back involved in football soon.
