Sporting Club Thamesmead are sad to see manager Jason Long leave the club while Gary Alexander stays at Glebe after many positive meetings with chairman

SPORTING CLUB Thamesmead begin the search for a new manager after announcing that Jason Long has left the club.

The Bayliss Avenue based club were sitting in fourth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division table at the time of the abandonment of the 2019-20 campaign due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The club were in the final promotion berth but The Football Association declared football below the National League North and South to be null and void and results expunged.

“The club would like to thank manager Jason Long for all his efforts last season and since joining the club two years ago,” said a club statement.

“We are sad to see him leave us and wish him well.”

The club are now seeking applicants for the managers role and those interested should email Lee Hill at the club lhsasfc@gmail.com.

Meanwhile, Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division side Glebe have retained the services of their manager Gary Alexander.

The Chislehurst-based outfit were in fourteenth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division club at the time of the nation's health crisis.

But after meeting with chairman Rocky McMillan this morning, the former Millwall ace can now start building his squad with the 2020-21 campaign in mind.

“After a positive few weeks, I’m delighted to say I’ve agreed to stay at Glebe,” said Alexander, 40.

“After many positive meetings with the chairman, I can now start to plan and talk to players ready for the return of football, when it’s safe to do so.”

McMillan added: “Delighted Gary Alexander has officially committed to Glebe for the coming season and beyond.”
