Thursday 10th June 2010

SEVENOAKS TOWN begin the search for a new management team following Simon Jones and Joe Little's decision to quit the Greatness Park club, writes Stephen McCartney.

Sources claimed that Jones had quit the Kent League club on 4 June, but the club confirmed the pair’s departure with a very brief statement on the official club website today.

"The board of Sevenoaks Town Football Club announce with regret that due to personal and work commitments the management team of Simon Jones and Joe Little have today with immediate effect decided to stand down," said club chairman Tony Smart.

Mr Smart added: "The club wish them both well for the future."

The club, based at Mill Lane, off Seal Road, in Sevenoaks, invite applications for the positions of first team manager and assistant manager in writing.

Candidates should contact Mr Graham Logsdon at 69 Ash Road, Westerham, Kent TN16 1EJ or by email suesmart53@hotmail.co.uk

Bromley resident Jones, whose company also sponsored the club, was in charge for over two years and was the club’s most successful manager.

He guided the club to sixth place in the Kent League last season, which was the club’s highest position in seven seasons at this level .

They were also defeated by a Stuart King hat-trick as runners-up Herne Bay defeated the Oaks in their first ever Kent League Cup Final at Folkestone Invicta’s Cheriton Road last month.
