Sevenoaks boss John James hails strikeforce after clinching Les Leckie Cup again

SEVENOAKS boss John James hailed his side’s strikeforce after they clinched the Les Leckie Cup for the second successive season last Thursday.

Strikers Joe Creasey and Andy Logan gave James’ side a 2-0 lead at the break, before Brad Draper’s glancing second half header secured a 3-1 win over Deal Town Rangers at Faversham Town’s Salters Lane.

“Sevenoaks FC showed the strength you need to be a good team to win the Les Leckie Cup for a second successive season,” James told www.sevenoakstownfc.org.

“We set-up with big Nathen Sencherey sitting in front of a back four knowing Deal would be lively.  When any team leaves three at the back and pushes so high up the pitch we knew our strikers would punish them.”

But the cup success was dampened with the news that prolific striker Creasey will miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.

“He has suffered a serious shoulder injury, which will put him out for the rest of the season, with an operation to follow,” revealed James.

“His 31 goals have been the platform of a great season and the players are keen to finish the job in the league for Joe.”

Sevenoaks lead the Haart of Kent County League Division Two East table by three points with 49 points from 18 games.  They have the luxury of a game in hand over Borden Village and Sevenoaks have four league games left to play.

James added: “I was pleased with all three strikers scoring in the final and the great support we had at Faversham.”
