I am very excited by the challenge and the potential of the club - our ambition is to stay in Step Four this season and then kick on next season, says newly-appointed Sevenoaks Town manager Harry Hudson
HARRY HUDSON takes charge of his first Sevenoaks Town game tomorrow after his eight month spell at Glebe came to an end last weekend.
Hudson has taken the helm at Greatness Park following the departure of Micky Collins on 13 February.
Hudson left Glebe last Saturday and was appointed as Sevenoaks Town’s new manager at 18:30 the following day.
The former Croydon and Whyteleafe manager has 10 games to help guide Sevenoaks Town away from relegation trouble in the Isthmian League South East Division.
The Oaks have picked up 23 points and are just one point clear of the relegation zone, occupied by Phoenix Sports and Whitstable Town, who have also changed their managers this season.
Julian Leigh, Jason Bourne and Terry Groom took charge of last week’s 3-1 home defeat to Burgess Hill Town and Leigh and Groom form part of Hudson’s management team going forward.
Glebe appointed coaches Dan Hogan and Adam Flemming – who both work with Hudson in their day jobs at Kinetic – and they claimed a 1-0 victory at K Sports in their first game in interim charge last Monday to remain in third-place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table.
The Chislehurst-based club are one level below Sevenoaks Town in the football pyramid and this will be Hudson's first time being involved in a relegation dog-fight.
Hudson takes his new club to eleventh-placed side Corinthian tomorrow and must hit the ground running to end a run of five straight league defeats.
“I have been asked by a multitude of people to comment on the Glebe situation but personally I don’t believe issues should be aired publicly,” said Hudson.
“In regards to Sevenoaks, I am very excited by the challenge and the potential of the club.
“It has been excellent getting to work this week with the club. Our ambition is to stay in Step Four this season and then kick on next season.
“We will keep our gunpowder dry in regards to new players."
Midfielder Ben Davisson has left Greatness Park has signed for Snodland Town, fourth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division, while second-placed Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division side Sheppey United have snapped up centre-half Danny Divine.
Hudson added: “Michael Golding is doing an outstanding job at Corinthian and it is a very difficult place to go but we have 10 games so we have to hit the ground running and that starts tomorrow.”
Corinthian have 38 points from their 27 games and were knocked out of the Velocity Trophy on Monday night, losing their Fourth Round tie 4-2 at Premier Division side Carshalton Athletic.
