Soccer Shorts: Margate boss Terry Brown releases seven players three days after celebrating promotion

BROMLEY manager Mark Goldberg has confirmed that fourteen players of his championship winning side will be staying at Hayes Lane next season.

The Ravens celebrated winning the Vanarama Conference South title following a comfortable 3-0 home win over Weston-super-Mare on 18 April and Goldberg is preparing for life in the rebranded Vanarama National League for the first time in the club’s 123-year history.

Adam Birchall, Alan Julian, Ali Fuseini, Anthony Cook, Ben May, Jack Holland, Jamie Slabber, Joe Anderson, Louis Dennis, Moses Ademola, Pierre Joseph-Dubois, Reece Prestedge, Rob Swaine and Ugo Udoji are all on contract for next season.

A club statement said: “Talks are ongoing with members of last season’s squad along with some exciting new additions and an update will be provided next Tuesday.”

DEAL TOWN boss Derek Hares has confirmed that defender Dean Hill, 31, will be staying at The Charles Sports Ground next season.

EBBSFLEET UNITED have today completed a deal for Whitehawk playmaker and midfielder John Paul Kissock, 25, a former England C international. He becomes new manager Daryl McMahon’s first summer signing at Stonebridge Road.

ENGLAND C manager Paul Fairclough has called up two players’ from Kent for his side’s fixture against the Republic of Ireland Under 21 side in June.

Dover Athletic defender Sean Raggett and Welling United’s midfielder Jake Gallagher will play in the Galway clash on Monday 1 June.

MAIDSTONE UNITED confirm that midfielders Ben Greenhalgh, Jack Paxman and Charley Robertson will be back at the club next season.

The trio have agreed deals with manager Jay Saunders to be part of the squad for the forthcoming Vanarama National League South campaign.

Greenhalgh, who re-joined the club last August, made 46 appearances during the Ryman Premier League championship winning campaign – scoring nine goals in all competitions.  It was his cross that Frannie Collin headed home in the dramatic FA Cup First Round replay win over Stevenage.

After impressing in his first few weeks with the club, Paxman has the opportunity to show what he can do at the next level.

The 21-year-old has experience of Conference South football following a spell with Chelmsford City at the start of the 2013-14 season.

Robertson, who scored a goal in the Stones’ opening league match against Met Police, featured in a few cup matches before a loan spell in a Faversham Town team that made it to the Ryman League Division One South play-off semi-finals after helping Ray Turner’s side finish in third-place.

Saunders told www.maidstoneunited.co.uk: “I am pleased to get these three back for next season. They bring different qualities to the side and offer options across the midfield. There’s going to be times next season where we have to change the shape and having that strength in depth is important at this level.”

MARGATE manager Terry Brown has released seven players of his promotion winning side – just three days after beating Hendon 1-0 in the Ryman Premier League Play-Off Final.

The club can confirm that Matthew Armstrong-Ford, Mitchell Nelson, Tambeson Eyong, John Beales, Ben Gerring, Anthony Riviere and Tom Phipp have all been released.

Brown admitted that the decision to release the players was the most difficult part of management, especially after winning promotion on Sunday against ten-man Hendon, courtesy of a first half goal from striker Ryan Moss.

“There is no doubt that this part of the job is the worst,” Brown told www.margate-fc.co.uk

“Usually you have to release players at the end of the season because you haven’t achieved what you set out to do but that is not the case this time.

“We set out to win promotion and that is what we did and this is why this time it was even more difficult but having lost a few weeks we needed to act quickly to ensure that we continue to progress as a club.

“The players we have let go have been fantastic servants to the club and have helped Margate Football Club gain promotion and I am sure the fans will show their appreciation to them.”

SEVENOAKS TOWN manager Micky Collins has pulled off a transfer coup by enticing striker Adrian Stone, 32, to leave Cray Wanderers to sign for the Southern Counties East Football League club.

Stone scored 22 goals for the Ryman League Division One North club last season.

VCD ATHLETIC’S newly-appointed manager Keith McMahon has unveiled Bradley King will be his assistant manager at Oakwood.  Alan Woodward will undertake physio duties at the club having been McMahon’s physio at his former club Thamesmead Town.

Meanwhile, McMahon has unveiled his first four signings for the club.

Goalkeeper Luke Colquhoun, 19, is a former Brighton & Hove Albion under 21s player and played the last ten games for Cray Wanderers last season, keeping eight clean sheets to help the club pull off The Great Escape to maintain their Ryman League status under Tommy Warrilow, who was replaced by former Vickers’ boss Tony Russell.

Paul King, is a 32-year-old central defender, who has previously played for Witham Town, Tilbury, Maldon & Tiptree and Stanhope.

Central midfielder, Daniel Parkinson, 19, arrives from Ryman One South Herne Bay, having previously played for Tonbridge Angels and Maidstone United.

And Jack Stevenson, 22, is an attacking midfielder, previously at Aveley.

WELLING UNITED have confirmed that striker Kieron St Aimie, 26, has penned a new deal to stay at Park View Road for next season.

Another 26-year-old striker, Sahr Kabba, has signed for the club on a one-year-deal.

He arrives at Welling after ending last season with Gloucester City.  Kabba will be well known to many Wings fans, who saw first half the striker’s explosive speed and goal scoring when the club were in Conference South and played against Weston-super-Mare.

Meanwhile, midfielder Dominic Vose, 21, has left Park View Road to sign for their Vanarama National League rivals Wrexham.

WHITSTABLE TOWN newly-appointed manager Will Graham has signed midfielder Sam Bewick, 22, from their Ryman League Division One South rivals Hythe Town.

Central defender Aaron James, together with the returning Ollie Gray and Luke Doherty, have also put pen to paper to re-sign for the club.

This follows the news that striker Kane Rowland, Joe Kennett and Ashley Ulph have also pledged their future to the club.
