SITTINGBOURNE’S new manager Richard Brady has made his first summer signing by bringing Jamie Coyle back to the club as his number two, writes Stephen McCartney.

Coyle, who played for the Bourne Park outfit during Mark Beeney’s reign at centre back, will take up this role again, as well as assisting Brady with all aspects of managing and coaching.

Coyle made 35 appearances in his one season at Blue Square Bet South side Welling United last season, his only goal for the Wings coming in the 4-0 home win over Basingstoke Town on the last day of the season, which saw Jamie Day’s side finish in sixth place.

He began his career as a trainee at Crystal Palace, before moving to Gravesend & Northfleet and played for Dulwich Hamlet before moving to Sittingbourne.

Sittingbourne chairman Andy Spice told the club’s website www.sittingbournefc.co.uk
: “This is the first of Richard’s signings and I look forward to seeing who else he can entice to the club.

“Richard and Jamie work well together at the Dartford Academy and I’m sure they will do well together here.

“They are both keen to succeed and their youth means that they have a number of football playing friends.

“I for one am looking forward to the season ahead with enthusiasm.”

Meanwhile, fire fighters were called to a fire at Central Park Stadium in the early hours of his morning.

A statement published on the Kent Fire and Rescue Service website said,”Firefighters were called to a fire outside
Sittingbourne Football Club in the early hours of Sunday morning.  Five portacabins that had been used as the old clubhouse, were alight and have been destroyed by the blaze.

“Two crews from Faversham, as well as Rainham and Teynham crews tackled the fire.”

Club secretary, John Pitts, added, “Just to calm people’s fears, the fire at Sittingbourne FC did not involve our clubhouse, it destroyed the old derelict clubhouse we used to use.”
