Sittingbourne unveil goalscoring legend as their new boss

Sittingbourne have this morning unveiled that their new manager is non-league goalscoring machine Gary Abbott, 42.

Abbott has played at Conference level and Ryman Premier League level for the last 25 years and until recently was involved with Cray Wanderers as a player and coach.

He is very well known in non-league circles and includes Aldershot Town, Slough Town, Barnet and Welling United amongst the clubs that he has played for.

Abbott has worked under some influential managers including Peter Taylor, Barry Fry, Brian McDermott and George Borg."

He was awarded non-league player of the year seven years ago and also holds three England caps.

The retired striker takes charge of his first game tomorrow when current Ryman League Division One South leaders Tooting & Mitcham United visit Bourne Park (3pm).
