EBBSFLEET UNITED defender Will Salmon has been selected in a 16-man contingency squad for England C duty.
The former Aldershot and AFC Wimbledon right back, an ever-present fixture for the Fleet so far this season, is on standby for England's friendly international with Hungary on Tuesday 15 September.
Also in the contingency squad is former Fleet striker Michael Gash, who scored his first goal for York City earlier this week.
The main squad contains 12 new call-ups as manager Paul Fairclough begins the process of rebuilding his U23 squad in preparation for the forthcoming International Challenge Trophy qualifiers which begin in the autumn.
Fairclough said: "This is an ideal opportunity for players to stake a claim before the qualifying games begin.
"There are other players still eligible that we are aware of but it is important to look at others to see how they adapt to international football and the rigours that go with it."
WELLING UNITED have signed Craig Rocastle, the cousin of the late England and Arsenal midfielder David Rocastle, has arrived from Greek side Thrasyvoulos.
Craig has a wealth of experience including spells at Chelsea, Sheffield Wednesday and Oldham Athletic amongst others. The midfielder received international clearance and will be available for selection on Saturday when Braintree Town visit Park View Road.
In other news, Jeff Minton and Cedric Ngakam have been released.
Wings Boss Andy Ford made his second new signing in as many days with the confirmation of Yado Mambo joining on a work experience loan from Charlton Athletic.
The 18 year-old centre-half made numerous appearances for the League One side's reserve team and will be available for selection against the Iron tomorrow.
TONBRIDGE ANGELS boss Tommy Warrilow slammed referee Lee Venamore over his mistaken identity during his side’s 2-2 home draw with Horsham in midweek.
The Maidstone official adjudged Tom Bryant’s 76th minute tackle on Claude Seanla to be inside the penalty area, when it appeared to have occurred outside the box.
Amazingly, Lewis Hamilton was shown a red card, a massive case of mistaken identity and Seanla, the former Ashford Town striker, scored and then two minutes later Lee Carney waltzed his way through a shell-shocked Angels defence to fire home.
But Carl Rook grabbed his first goal of the season in the last minute to grab a point for the Angels, who had taken a first half lead through Paul Booth.
“The tackle for the penalty was a good yard outside the box and then he sent the wrong bloke off,” Stormed Warrilow, when speaking to the Kent & Sussex Courier Newspaper.
“Tommy Bryant made the tackle and then he sent Lewis Hamilton off. It just about summed up the referee’s performance.
“He is just one of those referee’s, and I felt he was out of his depth. He has made a massive decision that means I lose a player through suspension.”
The Angels travel to Billericay Town tomorrow.
MARGATE manager Terry Yorath presented a cheque on behalf of the Margate Independent Supporters Association SUPERDRAW to the Children’s Rainbow Ward at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate last Monday.
This happens because part of the SUPERDRAW monies (a percentage of the cost of each ticket) goes periodically to this ward.
In this instance the money will go towards the cost of a portable bed that will be used by parents staying over in the ward with their children. Each bed costs £500.
Yorath’s men travel to Harrow Borough tomorrow, looking for three league wins on the bounce for the first time since 26th January 2008.
Yorath will be forced into at least one change as Aaron Lacy serves the first of his two match ban. Kieran Morris and Curtis Robinson look set to miss out through injury, although striker Steve West could return in place on Billy Dunn.
CRAY WANDERERS physio Michael Reeves says veteran left-back Colin Luckett was allowed home from hospital following a nasty injury sustained against Tooting & Mitcham United in midweek.
The Wands, who welcome Hastings United to Hayes Lane tomorrow, won their first game in the Ryman Premier League courtesy of goals from Lewis and Jamie Wood, but Luckett suffered a nasty injury towards the end of the game at Imperial Fields.
"Colin is ok and now at home," Reeves told www.craywands.co.uk. "It was a pretty nasty smash courtesy of Quinnys (Rob Quinn) shoulder and he was unconscious when I got to him.
"But he is a tough lad and after having his schnozzer cauterised, he was allowed home."
The new physio added: "Shaggy (Michael Power) was given the Terry Butcher look after taking a gash to his head and Jamie Wood came off just before half-time after turning his ankle over.
"On a positive note, Bremns (Leigh Bremner) had a very good run out without any after effects and Calum (O'Shea) was on the subs bench."
RAMSGATE secretary Martin Able confirmed last night that striker Aaron Frith, 23, has left the club to sign for Ryman Premier League side Maidstone United on a free transfer.
“Just got off the phone to Alan Walker (Maidstone’s joint manager) and Jim (Ward) and Firthy is Maidstone-bound, subject to sorting out the paperwork at my office (on Friday),” Mr Able told the fans’ forum at www.ramsgate-fc.co.uk late last night.
“Maidstone are keen to get Firthy in time for their League game on Saturday, and obviously don’t want him FA Cup tied.
“I know Aaron will miss the Red Army, but obviously he wants a proper crack at the Premier Division now he is fully fit.
“Although he’s on contract, we never stand in anyone’s way.”
MAIDSTONE UNITED, who welcome Tooting & Mitcham United to Homelands tomorrow, have lost the services of former Dover Athletic midfield play-maker Alan Pouton, who has signed for rivals Sutton United.
“Sutton have made him an offer which he has accepted,” Stones joint-manager Alan Walker told www.maidstoneunited.co.uk.
“We are disappointed to let him go but when a player makes his mind up to move to another club and I have done everything in my power to persuade him to stay, and he decides otherwise, so be it.
“We have a policy this season at the club that all players are non-contracted and this will mean on occasions that our better players may be approached by other clubs, and at the same time it allows me if a player does not come up to standard to replace them far more easily.”
Walker confirmed that Frith should make his debut against Tooting & Mitcham United tomorrow and that Dean Harnandez-Bradshaw will play for the reserves to improve his fitness.
ERITH & BELVEDERE joint-manager Richie Radbourne is looking forward to tomorrow’s FA Cup preliminary round tie at Ash United.
“Everyone gets a buzz from the FA Cup,” he told www.erithandbelvederefc.co.uk. “It gives you a chance to play against teams from other leagues and there’s also the matter of the prize money.
"We are expecting a tough game from Ash on Saturday, but we have a full squad to choose from and the players are up-beat and all looking forward to the match. If we play like I know we are capable of playing, it should be a good game and one that the supporters will enjoy."
Should this FA Cup tie require a replay, this will take place at Park View Road on Tuesday 1 September, kick off 7.45pm. Consequently, their Bulmers Cider Kent League fixture with Fisher, scheduled for Monday 31 August, will be postponed.
Meanwhile, the Deres go into the cup game without Sam Prett, who after a seven-day approach, has signed for Kent League rivals Erith Town.
The former Whitstable Town striker has scored 30 goals for the Deres from 56 appearances, will join up with the Dockers for their FA Cup tie this weekend against Basildon United at the Erith Sports Stadium.
But the Deres have welcomed back Danny Beszant to the club and Danny is available to join the squad for tomorrow’s game.
The midfielder made four appearances for the Deres during the 2006-2007 Season, scoring three goals, and it is hoped the much-travelled player stays a bit longer this time.
Don't forget that a coach for supporters will be travelling to the Shawfield Stadium, leaving Park View Road at 11.30 tomorrow morning, and is the easiest way of making your way to the Combined Counties League club.
Meanwhile goalkeeper Matt Bromby has turned down a move to Ashford Town after he had talks with Homelands officials earlier this week.
“We are delighted that Matt has decided to stay with the Deres and we know that all of our supporters will show Matt their appreciation on Saturday,” added Radbourne.
Ash have a record of played 4, won 2, drawn 1 this season, including a 4-0 win over Deres’ old rivals Croydon on the opening day. They currently lie 8th in the Combined Counties Premier Division table.
Their most recent result came last Saturday when they gained a 1-1 draw at Molesey.
They progressed to this stage of the competition by beating Sussex League Hassocks by 4 goals to 1 at the Beacon Ground.
FISHER are offering companies the chance to be the club's main sponsor for £50.
The Kent League club are staging an innovative raffle giving companies the opportunity to have their names associated with the new Fisher, giving the opportunity for positive exposure nationwide.
Fisher who made history appointing Donna Powell to their coaching staff this season, have a dynamic committee trying to maximise attendance at the club, and are attempting to build partnerships with the Council and other key agencies in Southwark to further their aims and profile.
The successful winner will have their name on the shirts, on the website and have a strong advertising presence in the programme.
Everyone is a winner however, as those companies unsuccessful in the draw will still be given recognition in the programme and on the website for the rest of the season.
The draw will take place on September 28th, with the sponsor to be unveiled at the home game against Erith Town on Saturday 3rd October.
For more information please email info@fisherfc.co.uk, visit the website at www.fisherfc.co.uk or speak to any club official at the home game against Herne Bay on 5th September. Tickets are on sale now.
HOLMESDALE have unveiled Johan Oosterling as their new reserve team manager, replacing Danny Bushell who successfully clinched the Kent League Division Two title last season.
Oosterling is no stranger to Holmesdale having previously been part of the 2003/2004 line up. Following an injury in only his second game for the first team, Johan helped out with training sessions for Holmesdale's first and reserve Teams for the remainder of the season.
Johan, who is originally from Holland, has played at Dutch Academy and Semi Pro level. He studied Top Sport Coaching at degree level, majoring in Football, Speed Skating and Gymnastics and also holds the Dutch FA (KNVB) TC 2 licence.
He went on to manage and coach in Top National Academy U13's-U19's level in The Netherlands with SC Joure and ASV Dronten. As well as The Netherlands his coaching experience includes the United States and the UK.
Johan has come to Holmesdale after a successful period as coach with Orpington and Bromley District Sunday Football League side Keyworth FC where over the last four years he has help lead them to the first division title, League Cup winners title, Senior Cup Winners title and the Premier Division winners title.
In his private life Johan works as a general manager for a Health Club and also runs sports coaching, gymnastics and trampolining within Bromley.
He has also just accepted a management role running an alternative education programme working with young people who are on the verge of exclusion from school. When not spending time with his family he enjoys playing golf and snowboarding.
TUNBRIDGE WELLS has secured a main sponsor for Season 2009/10. In a deal worth a four-figure sum, Larrytech Internet Services will be The Wells’ shirt sponsor, and fund the purchase of a new home kit and Adidas training kit for the squad.
“As a club we are delighted to welcome Larrytech on board,” Tunbridge Wells’ Manager Martin Larkin told www.tunbridgewellsfc.co.uk.
“In the current climate it is incredibly important that local businesses assist each other as much as possible. The new playing and training kit looks great, and we look forward to building a long-term relationship with Larrytech over the next few years.”
Lawrence Hardcastle, director of Larrytech added, “We’re very much looking forward to the season ahead, and are very keen to build a long-term relationship with the club.
“We think supporting local sport is a great way to put Larrytech at the heart of the community - and it’s very clear from everyone we have met at the club that they are committed to being the best they can be, which fits very nicely with our own ethos.”
With tales of economic doom and gloom prevalent in the media, not least with lay-offs and pay-cuts being reported up and down the country, Mr Hardcastle explained his company’s decision to sponsor the club at this time.
“It’s tough for everybody at the moment (non-league football hasn’t been immune from the bite of recession either), but I believe the only way forward in times of recession is for organisations to work together to improve their prospects. We pride ourselves on supporting our clients in the bad times as well as the good."
Based in the centre of Tunbridge Wells, Larrytech was founded by Mr Hardcastle in 2001. An independent internet services provider and web design agency, Larrytech seeks to provide professional and insightful web and IT consultancy to a range of clients - and it’s that broad range of clients that the company will look to gain further exposure to through this sponsorship deal.
“We deal with a large range of clients, from very small companies up to large organisations,” Hardcastle outlined. “Being based in central Tunbridge Wells, we are able to cover the surrounding area - including London - and we have a broad service offering, from website design, to broadband, to graphic design, and we can adapt our services to fit the individual firms.”
Meanwhile, on the pitch, Larkin spoke about the problems he faces without a playing budget this season.
“I’m not going to use that as an excuse,” he said. “We managed to get these guys here without the lure of money. Yes we missed out on some real quality because we aren’t paying, but I fully support the club with the decisions they have made - the future of the club is far more important than short-term success.
“Guaranteed, come April 2010, the league table won’t lie: those paying money will finish at the top, but we just need to take Greenwich Borough’s wonderful example last year as a non-paying club, as they bucked the trend with their league finish. Nevertheless, my instinct tells me the ‘big-hitters’ in terms of wages will fill the top slots this year.
“If anything, though, that is what drives us on each day as a side: trying to show what can be done with good local players who want to play for the club, and building slowly but surely over the next couple of years so that when we do challenge (which believe me, we will) it won't be to the detriment of the club’s financial health longer-term.”
